​​Deebing Heights State School offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities which allow students opportunities to explore their interests beyond the classroom.

Student leadership

At Deebing Heights State School, we provide many opportunities for our students to hold positions of leadership. Student leadership positions are held in high esteem by the Principal, staff, fellow students, parents, carers and the general community.

The positions available for students include School Captains, House Captains and Student Councillors for Years 4 & 5. The processes involved with the selection of each, vary with the position.​ 

Student council

The student council at, Deebing Heights State School, is an organisation directed by the four school captains, with an elected student from each class in grades 4, 5, and 6 and supervised by a Senior School Teacher. The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body. They help share student ideas, interests and concerns with the school wide community. Ideas are presented, voted upon and confirmed by the supervising teacher. 

Lunchtime clubs

Deebing Heights State School provides a diverse range of Lunchtime Clubs which engage students and provide opportunities for them to discover new interests. Clubs are run by students and staff during play times. Lunchtime clubs can include:

  • Junior & Senior Choir
  • Little Ones Lunch Club
  • Basketball Club
  • Computer Lab
  • Art Club
  • Soccer Club
  • Touch Football Club
  • Table Tennis Club
  • Supported Play
  • Extension Club
  • Coding Club

Clubs are continually being reviewed and added to. For the most up to date information, please see the Administration team or your classroom teacher.

Class performances

At Deebing Heights State School we celebrate student achievement at many times throughout the year. Students are encouraged to showcase their learning during various performances (dance, drama, music) and Celebration of Learning afternoons. Parents, carers and family members are welcome to attend these celebrations.

Deebing’s Got Talent

Deebing Heights State School hosts the annual ‘Deebing’s Got Talent’. The event provides a great opportunity for students to exhibit their talent, creativity, presentation skills and team work in the case of group performances. Students audition in different heats with the winners from each heat announced to take their place in the final. This lively competition brings together a great showcase of performers.

Musical

The Deebing Heights State School Musical provides great opportunities for students to exhibit their talent and creativity through the means of singing, dancing and acting. Students learn and practice many skills such as confidence, resilience, public speaking, communication and team work all while making new friendships.
